Bespoke awnings for Spitalfields restaurant

25 Sep 2014

Wright Brothers - Spitalfields is the latest addition to the Wright Brothers family. The restaurant is bold and innovative following their ‘sea-to-plate’ dining experience, offering varieties of fish and seafood. With their demand for using only the best and freshest ingredients. They also know that one of the other key ingredients to a successful restaurant is having a great awning.

Morco are an outstanding choice for restaurants and were dutifully commissioned. The brief was to create an outdoor dining area. It was Morco’s idea to utilise an existing metal framework that was already in place, to help create a bespoke outdoor eating space. By using the framework it helped reduce the disruption to the day to day running of the restaurant while the awning was being erected. The solution involved various stages, firstly refurbishing the frame and then manufacturing a new bespoke fabric covering with a bespoke mechanism to allow for a fully retractable awning. The final awning succeeds in making an outdoor dining area that offers views of the famous and bustling market for 40 seated guests while still maintaing an intimate eating space.
