Olive cafe awning

New Greenwich awning at Olive Cafe

23 Feb 2017

We've just installed this Greenwich awning at the refurbished Olive Cafe at The Cut in SE1. The cafe is close to Southwark tube and open 7 days a week for breakfast and lunch. Our Greenwich awning features the special wrap around front profile with extended finials giving it the distinctive Morco look. "Morco" and "Awnings" belong together - just like the "Bangers" and "Mash" at the Olive cafe.

Our Greenwich Awning® was designed by our in-house design team and production is carried out in our London workshop. The Greenwich Awning® design is based on Continental principals with extra touches added to give it that more traditional British feel. Only the best materials are used with the hardwood boxes constructed from environmentally harvested timbers and painted with ecologically sound,  resilient, water based paints.

The Cut (formerly New Cut) is perhaps best known as being the location of the well-established Old Vic theatre at the Lambeth end, as well as the more experimental Young Vic theatre halfway along on the other side. Lewisham Southwark College is sited on the south side of The Cut and at the eastern end is Southwark tube station. Waterloo and Waterloo East stations are also nearby.

Lower Marsh and The Cut formed the commercial heart of the area from the early 19th century. A boxing gymnasium situated above a pub on The Cut is said to be where the modern rules for the boxing were created. The street is now home to a range of commercial restaurants, shops and offices.
