Stripes for Lokhandwala in Fitzrovia

14 Apr 2018

This striped Victorian awning at Lokhandwala is a fun change from the normal plain fabrics which seem to be more popular today. By using a plain valance for the text to set off the fine script style it has given this Victorian awning a special look of its own. Careful study of the placing of the traditional clout nails holding the cover to the lath and tacker will reveal how you can see the care which was taken by our installer to align the nails precisely with the stripes of the fabric. This kind of attention to detail is the sort of thing which makes our Morco installers stand out proudly from the norm.

Tucked away at Charlotte Street in Fitzrovia, Lokhandwala serves Imperial Indian tapas, unique cocktails and gins in a magnificent manner in a bright and airy environment. The restaurant features a dining room and a speakeasy bar on the first floor which offers an elegant and casual dining experience. Additionally, Vijay's Lounge Bar is perfect for after work drinks and private events. The colonial interior style, access to roof terrace gardens, side entrance, and extraordinary cocktails and spirits make this venue one of the finest bars in London.

Charlotte Street, formed in 1763, was named in honour of Queen Charlotte who married King George III in 1761. It was one of three streets in and around Fitzrovia which took her name. The other two have since been renamed Hallam Street and Bloomsbury Street.  Fitzrovia itself was named after the Fitzroy Tavern, a public house on Charlotte Street.
