Victorian awning Drakes Tabanco1

Victorian awning at Drakes Tabanco, London

7 Sep 2016

We have just installed a new traditional Victorian style awning at Drakes Tabanco of Windmill Street, London. The awning provides a focal point to identify the building with its striking black logo contrasting with the subtle ochre shade of the awning fabric. At the same time the awning provides a  cosy area for customers to watch the world go by while enjoying  their tapas and one of Drake's fine sherries..

An interesting installation challenge was met by placing one of the support arms inboard of the awning end to facilitate secure fixing. The traditional Spanish look is completed by our staining of the wood in an antique dark teak finish.

Drakes Tabanco was inspired by the great tapas restaurants and sherry taverns (Tabancos) of Andalucia; however, it replaces many of the usual tapas favourites with an interesting and imaginative array of original dishes - freshly prepared using seasonal ingredients from some of the country's finest producers.
